Should You Replace Aluminium Window Frames?
Should you replace aluminium window frames for PVC? That’s a question I used to ponder when buying an older property to renovate and it’s a question I quite often get asked by my friends and family.
Going back a few decades, most houses and flats were built with metal casement window frames and as time went on, many houses incorporated either aluminium or PVC which is still seen in today’s modern architecture.
Personally, in the past, I have always avoided aluminium window frames as they seem really hard to paint and why go to the bother when you can replace them for nice shiny new PVC frames?
Well the obvious answer to that question is the cost and mess that replacements bring to your home and pocket.
So is there an alternative? Yes there is and that is to have your window frames professionally resprayed by a specialist spray painting company in any colour of your choosing.
If you have existing metal window frames, you can easily get in a reputable spray painting company who will mask off the windows, both inside and out and then coat them in a long lasting satin paint that is guaranteed not to fade for 10 years or more.
You have the choice of almost limitless amount of colours. All RAL, BS and pantone colours are catered for and for that really special one off look, you can have your favourite colour matched to suit your tastes.
Personally, I always have my window frames resprayed, including the uPVC ones – even if it’s just white which will always make the frames look like new and at a fraction of the costs.
Whilst the spray painting team are on site, I always get them to paint spray the rain goods such as the gutters and down pipes, soffits and doors in a matching colour.
Finally, if you do need to replace your window frames and/or rain goods, be it metal or PVC, why not get them professionally colour coded before they are installed. Why always stick to white when you can stand out from the crowd!
